Molluscum contagiosum is a viral skin infection ,generally chronic in nature. The virus belongs to the pox virus family.
It is more common in children.
The bumps may last from a few months to a few years.
The virus is contagious and spreads through direct contact with an infected person and by rubbing or scratching the bumps .
It causes small, wart-like either single or multiple raised, pearl-like bumps (papules) on the skin.
The papules commonly appear on the face, trunk, and limbs of children and on the genitals, abdomen, and inner thighs of adults.
The lesions are generally painless but can itch; small (2 to 5 millimeters in diameter); Have a dimple in the center.
At first lesions are firm, dome-shaped, and flesh-colored, become softer with time. It may turn red and drain over time.
Though The conventional treatments for molluscum contagiosum include cryotherapy, curettage, laser therapy, and topical therapy, homoeopathy has a great scope in this type of viral skin disease.
